Nick Saban addresses Jermaine Burton while hitting a fan in Tennessee

Alabama soccer coach Nick Saban is gathering more information about videos that allegedly show Jermaine Burton hitting a Tennessee fan.

As if the loss to Tennessee on Saturday wasn’t upsetting enough, Nick Saban now has to deal with allegations related to one of the most important threats he has received.

Many Tennessee fans claim that senior receiver Jermaine Burton hit them as he ran off the field at Neyland Stadium.

Two videos were posted on TikTok purporting to show Burton hitting fans, including a Tennessee fan.

How did Nick Saban respond to the allegations against Jermaine Burton

On Wednesday, Saban confirmed that Alabama is investigating the incident.

“We are aware of the situation with Jermaine Burton when he was leaving the field on Saturday. We are currently working on gathering more information,” Saban told reporters.

It’s not clear what kind of punishment Burton could face, whether it be internal from Alabama or from outside sources.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) fines software when fans rush into the stadium because it carries a lot of risk to the safety of players and fans alike. However, the fact that there shouldn’t have been enough reason to let Burton off the hook. Having a player lay his hands on a fan is definitely not something college football should take lightly.

In 2017, a University of Southern California player who prompted a Washington State fan rushing onto the field faced the possibility of assault charges. However, the local prosecutor’s office eventually decided not to proceed with the case. He faced internal punishment.

Burton has had 18 catches for 266 yards and three touchdowns so far this season. He moved to Alabama from Georgia this year.
